Everything was perfect. It was evening, and not a cloud in the sky. The celestial body of stars was aligned in romantic perfection, and they seemed to shine brighter than usual. Tonight was the first Winter Ball of Blue Stone Academy, of course, you know.
It was both an indoor and outdoor dance, with tables stretching out like everlasting rows of drinks, food, and giveaways of varieties. A large fountain was in the center of the courtyard, and around that, many people gathered.
There was a DJ outside, playing loud music for those who loved to rave or whatever suited them. Then, of course, there was an orchestra in the ballroom, with a very large dance floor, for those that preferred a more "classic" approach to things.
Lile Ossia had moved toward the refreshments, grabbing a cup of punch, which was being served by the catering staff. Her hair had been straightened from its wild Irish mess, and she allowed for the salon to have their way with makeup; it wasn't much, but it made her more feminine and rather beautiful. Her dress of choice? A rich, dark green gown, of course, velvet-esque and strapless. It wasn't cheap, but it wasn't overly expensive, either. Well, she did buy something nice, like her older sister told her to. Sure, she wasn't used to walking in high heels, either, so she occassionally nearly-lost her balance, but no worries, right? For once, she was dressed for the occassion, and quite a change from her usual self.

As soon as she had seen that letter from the school administrators, Blyss had searched for the right dress. It was, after all, her first dance and she wanted it to be perfect. She had spent the day getting ready, having a long bath so that she smelt nice and then going to the salon for her hair and, somewhat simple, make up.
As Blyss approached the scene, she checked her image over in the reflection of one of the windows from the school building. Her heeled shoes sounded lightly on the paved floor, the sound of the rave music filling her ears, blimey, she was nervous.
Stopping for a moment, the fourteen year old stared down at her dress. It was gorgeous, one of the nicest things she owned. It was bright blue, and finished three quarters of the way down her legs. At the top front, a corset design was made in blue ribbons, and behind them a floral pattern in the same colour, decorated with sequins and rhinestones. The skirt of the dress was layered in blue with many different materials- silk, soft tulle, many different things.
Her dark hair had been straightened and scooped up in a swift up-do, with her chin length fringe hanging down on one side of her face. Her lips had been penciled in a dark rose and her lashes mascaraed in front of her eyelids which had white penciling on. And no prom outfit was complete without a manicure and pedicure.
Feeling slightly thirsty, she made her way over to the punch table where a girl with red hair stood, having a drink. She'd seen that girl around school, she was pretty hard to miss with her beautiful hair colour. Pouring herself some punch, she decided to speak to her. “Hi, I'm Blyss Diiacover.”

Lile turned, an amiable smile about her. She looked over Blyss a few quick times, to make sure she hadn't actually met Blyss before. No, that was a definite no. She offered a hand, gently, of course.
"I'm Lile Ossia, it's nice to meet'cha," She smiled, before sipping on the punch she had just poured for herself. "Have you been going here for a while?" She asked, trying to make conversation. She wasn't exactly that great with conversations with other girls, she had discovered since she came to Blue Stone. Especially after she met with Vivianne; and that didn't end up well, now did it?

So, the Winter Ball. Winter... it seemed like such a formal occasion for the first dance of the year; Jake had been angling towards a Spring Ball. Much more relaxed, fewer awkward introductions that made him cringe with embarassment. He hadn't had the courage to ask Blyss to the Winter Ball, he doubted even she could think of a nice thing to say about him as he managed to spit out the words then half run away, hardly caring about her reply in his haste. Still, she was here and so was he. Perhaps at this dance there would be some dancing to do, not just talking randomly about school.
He had decided to come to the Winter Ball at all for the sake of meeting new people. Of course that had been his affirmative side talking. He didn't mind talking to new people, just talking to Blyss... she made him stutter and sound stupid, mentally cursing himself afterwards. And it was no help that there was always Chad and Vivianne around, seeming to help along his lapse into uncoolness with laughter and gossiping. Blue Stone... fun so far, right?
He was wearing a black jacket and pants, both of which matched, with small stripes breaking up the solidarity. He had a white shirt on beneath, over which was a golden yellow tie, with co ordinating vest. He had sent money to his stylist at home who got him ready for all occasions; there was no reason to go to a clothes shop. Chad had sent to the same stylist, obviously he wasn't keen to be shown up by 'Jakey'.
A moment or two after finding his way to the place he already felt out of place. Everyone was decked out in the same gear as him and many looked much better than he did; but he still felt alone. He cast a longing look back to his car which he had driven here in; but he had made a commitment and he couldn't leave now.
Staring around he tried to find someone he knew, a guy preferably, but no such luck. Deciding against stuffing himself with food the second he arrived, he went inside the hall that was playing classical music to sit and watch the dancing. Sitting on the seats along the sides of the hall, Jake leant forward on his knees and watched the couples twirling to the orchestra, with the contrasting music blasting and creating a very different pulse to the one inside.

He looked hot. Well, he thought he did. And he did. There was no denying that Chad was hot, especially once you saw him on the night. He was dressed in a black jacket, the same as Jake's, yet obviously better because Chad was wearing it. With that was some striped pants; grey with black stripes. They had a crease down the middle, not very obvious but it still accentuated the formality of the occasion.
Under that he wore a white, long sleeved shirt that buttoned up at the wrists and poked out from the sleeves of his jacket. Around the white cotton by his collar he had a tie; grey and black diagonal stripes, which seemed to make his skin tone even more tanned and soft. He wore a grey vest with that, buttoned up his chest, which served to form a more manly figure with its almost corset-like fashion.
He had a rose in the left pocket of his jacket; red, to break the coldness of his jacket. It also brought out the colour in his cheeks, something deemed nice by the female side of things. His shoes were black, and quite nice by shoe standards; men never had nice shoes anyway. His hair was definitely not combed, but was softly tousled, and it had been stained golden brown by the sun, as he had been playing a lot of sport recently.
He was almost 15, in a couple of days, and he wouldn't let anyone else forget it. Not only was he more attractive than any other Freshmen, he was also older, which only made him more attractive than ever. Girls loved older guys, right? Well, here he was, God's gift to girls. Correction; to hot girls. He didn't want any of those nasty, chubby ones following him around, denting his desirability. No. They could go get the leader of the chess club and back the hell away from him.
He parked his car, aligning it perfectly with the ones next to him. He wondered how most of the people had made their way to the dance. Taxi? Bus? Walking? Biking? All were pathetic options. Either come in your own car, or don't come at all. He got out of his car, taking his keys and scraping them down the side of the car next to him, then wrote his own name in it. Chad. Very straight. After all, how many times had he done this? He answered himself. Countless.
He walked in, kicking over a plant as he did so. Heaps of people were everywhere; dancing, drinking, talking.. Now this was his kind of party. None of that shit with the party games. He headed straight for the crowd, mingling in with the dancers. A girl was next to him; a Sophomore, it seemed.
'What year are you? I haven't seen you round here,' she said, waving her tossing her brown hair over her shoulder and looking at him. She had brown eyes, he noticed. Like chocolate.
"I'm new. I started this year. Junior," he said, she would probably believe him. He looked hot enough, right?
'Oh, right,' she said, and he could tell she was sizing him up. The lie seemed to pass; she got a little closer and told him her name was Rebecca.
"Chad," he replied, and grabbed her waist as another song started. He hardly remembered Vivianne, she was just a Freshman. He had his eyes on bigger and better things. Like Rebecca. God, she was hot. She made Vivianne look like a stupid little girl, which she pretty much was. Now Rebecca, she knew how to rock things. And she sure was going to tonight.

So there was a Winter Ball, a ball that Vivianne Anderson definitely wasn’t missing out on. Balls were places for guys to flatter you, a play for you to flirt with whomever you came across- a night to look pretty. And there was no way she wasn’t going to miss this chance of impressing Chad, especially when she had walked out on him the other day. Maybe she was just playing hard to get.
As she neatly parked her silver sports car in an empty space, she checked her appearance in the mirror, making sure she hadn’t smudged her lip-gloss or anything embarrassing like that. Who would want to dance with a girl who had dodgy make up? No one, that was who. Reaching over to the passenger seat, she grabbed the mascara that lay on the leather seats, slowly applied some to her lashes, not wanting to get any lumps.
Opening the door, she elegantly stepped out, in case anyone was watching- she didn’t want to be seen slumping out of her car, after all. Locking the car with the click of a button, each high-heeled foot stepped carefully across the tarmac surface, not wanting to stumble or fall. That would just be too embarrassing.
Weaving through a few cars, she noticed one had writing inscribed on the side. ‘Chad’. Good, so he was here- that was what mattered most to her after all, but of course she would flirt with some other guys, too. It was what these dances were all about.
Walking in the direction of the blaring music, she stepped neatly over a fallen pot plant, into the dance. That was when she stopped in her tracks, mouth open, jaw practically hitting the floor. Quickly realising how stupid she must look, Vivianne shut her mouth, a hurt look falling over her powdered face. Chad was dancing. Normally she would just hop in and dance with him, but he was dancing with another girl.
He was her guy, so the girl had probably not realised and seduced him which lead to dancing, no way would her Chad ever forget about her. They had kissed, which this girl had probably never done. But still, it didn’t explain why his hands were planted on her waist. She would just let him know how she felt, then he would come back to her.
And she had picked the dress she wore specially, and it had cost her a packet, but that French designer of her had a good taste in clothes. The dress itself was strapless, the bodice ending in a ‘V’ shape, before turning into a skirt that finished slightly below her knees. Both where white, and decorate with gold and silver sequins, a trim of these sequins around the bottom of the shirt. A gold bow finished it off, at one side of her hips, adding that last touch of elegance to the dress.
Choosing a path to walk inside, she passed Chad and this girl, bumping into him gently, giving him a loud “Humf.” as she walked passed, that would get herself known. Maybe he’d look at her and decide she looked way better then this other girl, who looked older then them, a Sophomore, maybe, or perhaps a Junior, even.
As she strolled inside, she saw the seats lining the sides, many people sat on them, perhaps waiting for the right girl to dance with. Then, amongst the hot guys, sat a familiar figure, head in hands. Jake Boulevard, sat alone with out his beloved Blyss girl. Making her way other, she sat down next to him, leg elegantly crossed over. She didn’t need to say anything, from the moody look upon her face, he should be able to tell she was upset.

Mali had been to plenty of Proms before back in Thailand, and she didn’t feel the need for a new dress. People had liked it before, so a fresh batch of people should be cool with it- wasn’t like it had been damaged or anything.
She had never had a car before, never saw the need for one, and things hadn’t changed since arriving in America. Of course she didn’t catch a bus, she would’ve looked a right fool, clad in a prom dress, squeezed into a seat. So she hadn’t taken the better option, renting a car with the Chauffer and everything. It sounded like a good idea.
Big limos weren’t very her, they we too big, too far away from the driver, so she had decided on a beetle black Mercedes, which felt nice and snug once she had climbed in. It hadn’t taken long to get there, and when she arrived, she paid the driver and explained that she would call depending on whether she needed picking up or not.
Thanking him with a smile as he went, Mali expected her dress, which was black velvet and hot pink sparkly material. She thought it looked nice, not too short or long, clingly or baggy. Just right. Entering, she quickly walked through the rave area and took a seat in the hall, playing with a strand of her straightened hair.

As the Irish lass moved to head toward the DJ, wanting to get some form of entertainment into her system, Lile got a few head-turns. She figured she probably looked like a fool, a royal fool; after all, she was flat-footed, and walking in high heels wasn't her forté. She wanted to reach up and rub the makeup that was on her face; she felt as if a mask was painted onto her skin, thick and heavy, even if it was light makeup. Blyss wasn't exactly responsive, so she figured she would take a hint and search elsewhere for a hint of companionship.
The area with all the ravers, and the DJ? Hell no. She had refrained for a moment, wanting to see what everyone was doing so that she wouldn't look like a complete fool. She hadn't even seen those sorts of moves, but her brother had described them to her in a phone call before the party, so she could "impress people." What people he was talking about, she had no idea- stoners, perhaps? Probable.
The grand area, the ball room, wasn't her calling. She had two left feet, simple as that. She had taken a peek inside, to see what was going on. Her eyes felll on Vivianne almost immediately. She'd be damned to Hell if she went in there with that she-devil lurking about, that was for sure! She seemed to be in a mood, anyway, which spelled disaster.
So, the red-head milled about, so to speak, finally heading away from the crowd and the party, near the gardens. She didn't need society and its ever-stubborn values. Oh, push out the odd duckling, the newbie! Yeah, it was typical, but she didn't like it. Sitting on a bench, she took off those damned high heels shoes.
Much better!

The music was alright and no wonder; anything lame and no one would be jumping and dancing as lucridously packed as they were; crushed into the swaying mess of sweat and formal wear. The thing with these crowds was the atmosphere; high, charged, happy, dirty. There was no way anyone who cared about messing up their dress would come in here; no little Princesses to spoil the vibe.
The music itself was mainly hip-hop, alternative rap; Chad wasn't really paying attention. Of course if they really wanted everyone moshing they could go for rock, but no doubt they must want dancing because you could see there was no moshing going on there. If you looked closely the crowd was in couples; mainly boy/girl because no one could get off gay in a crowd like this.
Rebecca seemed to be having fun and she was pressed close to him, something he liked. Since the Vivianne incident he'd been a bit more into girls who knew what they were doing, not storming off over a couple of misread thoughts. It pissed him off that she treated him like dirt and expected him to come around; he wasn't one of her prissy little boys who came when she commanded. He shrugged away his anger, preparing to have fun tonight and not just because of Rebecca.
He wouldn't have liked to be one of those sad people sitting on the sidelines, eating or watching other people have fun. Come on, what was with people like that? He saw Red walk around a bit, clearly at a loss of what to do. She looked quite nice, but uncomfortable in what she was wearing.
Chad expected girls to look hot and have an attitude; but not a Vivianne-sized one. He was anti-feminist, and believed that all good choices had been made by men, because they had. He liked George W. Bush too; agreed with the ways the man was going about running America. All the Presidents were male, as are most world leaders; Bill Gates, Albert Einstein, those guys who invented the plane.. They were all guys.
Of course he wasn't thinking about history at this time; in true male fashion he was thinking about where this might lead. Just at the time he had started fathoming ways to sneak a girl into his dorm in the middle of the night, a 'humf' shattered all thoughts and knocked him into Rebecca, who in turn jostled into the crowd. The problem with being so tight was that any sudden movements could lead to a domino effect. It wasn't as dramatic as that, though; all that happened was a few people glaring at him and Rebecca getting closer to him so the other people could have more room.
He turned his head and a split second before the person vanished inside he saw it was Vivianne, probably annoyed about his lack of faith. Back up honey, who ditched who a couple of days ago? He rolled his eyes impatiently and turned back to Rebecca, who seemed not to notice anything out of the ordinary.

A particularly jazzy number came on and a couple more guys went up and chose a girl to dance with. Most were good, but a couple or two tottered around the frame of the floor, practising their steps. A girl fell over and her partner stood on the back of he dress as she fell; it ripped and Jake chuckled softly as well as a couple of other people. The furious girl, a Junior it seemed, soundly slapped her partner and ran out the hall. The befuddled guy stood awkwardly, then half ran to the food table and huddled around the punch bowl, by which stood Blyss.
Blyss... he wanted to go over and talk to her, and was about to when Vivianne came storming over and sat next to him. Her face was in a knot and she looked ready to kill, Jake was glad he wasn't on the recieving end of all this. He looked over to where she had come from, and saw Chad half-entwined into a girl, like vines climbing up the side of a tree. He glanced back at Vivianne, murmuring a hesitant:
"Alright?"
Which would no doubt be met with scorn on her side. He braced himself for the explosion that was going to come and shatter the majority of eardrums in the hall. He decided against putting his fingers in his ears so early on; that would just be to tempt fate. He so badly wanted to go talk to Blyss; but it would be cruel to leave Vivianne here, hurt so badly by Chad, who seemed to be doing his own type of tango to the one now going on in the hall.
He tried making eye contact with Blyss, willing her to look at him then come over, so he could make a hasty escape from the ticking bomb beside him. He leant back a little so he could look at Blyss but was closer to Vivianne so if she decided to say something it would be easier to hear.

Her arms were crossed tightly over her chest, one heeled foot tapping the floor in annoyance. This sort of thing wasn’t supposed to happen to her, she was the one who was supposed to be dancing with Chad, not that dumb older girl.
“Do I look alright to you?” she snapped angrily, giving a loud sniff, and letting her foot stop tapping. And it wasn’t her fault she was angry, who wouldn’t be? It wasn’t like she asked Chad to dance with someone else.
Biting a lip, anxiously, she wondered whether getting him jealous would want her instead of that other girl. She did have his cousin sat beside her. Tuning to face him, she gave him a sickly sweet smile.

Whoever invented high-heeled shoes definetly enjoyed SM, it was just a fact. Lile gave a sigh, rubbing her sore soles before promptly kicking her damned shoes, sending them flying. This was not what she signed up for in coming to this school, not at all! Well, it couldn't hurt to enjoy yourself, right? After all, sucked to be sitting by yourself.
Grabbing another drink, she couldn't even name it, Lile drank it in a few, quick gulps, a smile coming onto her lips; she could vaguely trace alcohol in it. Not enough to do anything, but enough to make the party more interesting. She slipped onto the dance floor by the DJ and the rave-esque crowd, giving a suppressed laugh.
She had no idea what to expect; everything was different than from back home. For one thing, the guys she hung out with weren't dancers or party people like these people were; they enjoyed a good time playing video games or going outside and rough-housing, often dragging her into it. They had no interest in "hot" people, just people who knew how to have a good time. Sex, or drugs, or alcohol? Well, it wasn't always on their mind, but alcohol wasn't bad every once in a while, especially when Garreth worked at the Dragon's Eye, their local bar/tavern. These people... They were like a different species.
But change is good sometimes.
She was soon pushed next to someone she didn't know, a Sophomore, she figured, and she was soon dancing with him. An average-looking guy, with probable average intelligence, Mr-No-Name. Somewhat popular with those around him, they were egged on to dance, making her cock a brow. What was with these people? Other people's dissatisfaction was their pleasure? Well, he knew how to dance. It may have been considered "grinding" by some, but she was having fun, so who cared what it was called, right? She looked around, spotting Chad- that guy with Miss-Bitch herself, back from the bar. Quickly turning her head, she blocked him from her mind-
hatred by association.

Jake tiredly rested his head on his hand. Honestly, he wasn't in the mood for Vivianne. He wanted to have fun, and she wasn't exactly fueling the party fire; it was no surprise that Chad had ditched her for that girl. He wanted to talk to someone normal, to someone who wouldn't yell at him for uttering a single word... someone like Blyss.
He noticed Vivianne had turned to him with a smile, such a smile that reminded him of earlier when she had cornered him and asked him about Blyss. Damn, he assumed she was up to some twisted means again. She had, before, attempted to get Chad jealous with Jake; he was just an object to her. And it wasn't going to happen again.
"It won't work, Vivianne," he sighed, edging closer to the edge of his seat in a subtle attempt to get away from her. "He's too busy with that girl. Why would he care if you harmlessly flirted with his younger cousin?"
Jake knew most of the main stuff about Chad, like his liking for girls, like his vanity, like his love of partying and everything along with it. And he knew that the only way for Vivianne to get Chad's attention tonight was to aim high; and that wasn't gonna happen with Vivianne. Chad seemed to be sick of little Freshman crushes; and every now and again he'd want some action. That seemed to be tonight.

The start of something new is not always a start, but a notice of what has always been there.
The shock of finding herself in a dance the moment she had even begun to contemplate what subjects to take was enough to make her drop all hesitation and join the party. It was true that only a few moments had passed since entering the school and being told there was a 'Winter Ball', something never expected in the joining of the Academy.
Yet she had unfailingly dragged her bags up to her new dormitory, searching amongst their rather messy contents for anything appropriate to wear to said dance, or party as it was more likely to be. Thankfully the going away party had resulted in a new dress that no one here would have seen, due to it being very new off the rack and a present from her extended family for the initiation into Blue Stone.
It matched her toenails, this little dress, and was sparkling light blue. It rode just above her bony knees, and while she would have preferred it to be longer, the top of it quite made up for the short. It was a V-neck and a swooping one at that; her cleavage nearly burst straight out of the top, which then angled into her skinny waist and manly body.
The light hair was curled and left loose; there was no reason to tie it up in an abnormally tight hairtie so it was creased and crumpled. She scrubbed her blackheads but they would no more come off than spots would a cheetah; so she resigned herself to cover her whole self in powder, then foundation, with blush and bronzer changing her face radically.
There was no first occasion she would go to looking ugly; so she layered the makeup upon her foundation-covered facade like an expert. Lipliner, lipstick, lipgloss too, with eyebrow pencil and shaper, eyeshadow, eyelash curler, eyeliner, mascara too. Soon her face was done, now for the grooming of the rest of herself; manicure, pedicure, hair removal all round, earrings that danced down by her cheekbones, a necklace that dived into her cleavage like a tortoise seeking refuge in its shell, silver heels that clutched her ankle like a child learnind to walk.
Soon all was complete and she stood in the mirror with a sense of satisfaction that could not be matched. Her trusty Audi TT was the way to get to the venue, so the little green car wound its way into a small parking lot next to a car that seemed to belong to Chad, judging by the writing on its exterior.
Her not-so-little heels clicked as she entered the place; it looked truly magical and Hannah could find no fault with it. The moshing and grinding was not the place for a girl in her brand new little dress, so she would go to the table of appetizing food to search for something to do without looking like a child lost in Disneyland.
It was standing there that she looked inside and saw a boy sitting there angling away from a girl who looked quite possessed. It appeared that the boy was staring at her, but that could not be, and as she followed his gaze she noticed it drew the attention of a girl next to her, with brown hair and wearing a blue dress, the colour not unlike her own.
She had no intention to speak to the girl for the only ones she would speak to were those she knew well, and she most certaintly did not know this individual well, indeed not at all. So all Hannah did was retrieve a glass of punch from the bowl and sip it absent-mindedly, watching the scene roll out in front of her like a carpet down a staircase.

She scowled, grumpily folding her arms across her chest and sighing loudly. But there had to be a way, otherwise she would resort to kicking this girl until she let go. But that would be her very last resort, if all else failed. She didn’t want to appear violent to Chad.
Why couldn’t he be optimistic for once, that stupid lover of his probably was. She shuddered, staring at the frizzy haired girl. But then some other random girl got in the way, she scowled at the newcomer, narrowing her eyes angrily.
She turned back to Jake, who seemed to be trying to get away from her. Ignoring it, she smiled at him again. “Yeah, but there has to be some way. How could I get him to dance with me?” she asked, somewhat desperate now. If she needed get what she wanted soon, she felt someone would get hurt.
